MSFT New Student’s Voice——Fedrick Ling Ze Xuan (Malaysian)

My name is Fedrick Ling Ze Xuan, I was born and raised in Malaysia before I completed my study in the United Kingdom for my Bachelor of Science in Investment and Financial Risk Management. Next, I was awarded a Master’s in Quantitative Finance in Singapore. Afterward, I decided to start my second Master’s in Financial Technology (MSFT) in 2021 at the School of Finance, Renmin University of China(SFRUC). I would like to take this opportunity to express my sincere thankfulness to the Chinese Government for sponsoring my study at RUC. It is a great honor to have this opportunity to study at one of the top universities in China.

During my school selection, I was intrigued by the MSFT program at SFRUC for its influential alumni network and its prestigious reputation in the disciplines of economics and public finance in China. RUC is the first comprehensive research university established by the People’s Republic of China. RUC is one of the best schools in China that offers top-quality finance courses and resourceful alumni network. Today, SRFUC is an official member of the FinTech Committee of the China Society for Finance and Banking.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, I am unable to attend lectures on campus. Despite the inconvenience and the difficulties of online-based learning, professors of RUC are still fully committed to sharing their knowledge and guidance with students. The program director and coordinator are accessible, responsive, and helpful in giving constructive advice to students. Especially in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, students’ welfare is particularly important. As expected from RUC, the program coordinating team delivers their care and assistance far beyond what is considered a satisfactory level, for which throughout my academic journey, I thought it is particularly noteworthy.

I am extremely grateful to the school, professors, the program coordinating team, teaching assistants, and my classmates for giving me an unique learning experience at SFRUC. I hope the global pandemic will be over soon and I look forward to experiencing the campus life in RUC, seeing modern China, cultural exchanges, and tasting various local foods.
