Our course portfolios are diverse and tailor-made for both undergraduate and postgraduate students, as well as short-term trainings and EMBA. In every term, we have over 2,000 full-time and 1000 part-time students, in which mostof them are postgraduate students.
Our purpose of education is to facilitate students with knowledge, critical thinking, and research abilities that they need to pursue higher goals.
A warm welcome from the Dean of the School:
The School of Finance was established alongside the founding ofChina and Renmin University of China. It was born in the war-time and is still inheriting the spirit of “standing at the forefront of the times”. Our school has made pioneering contribution to the development of Chinesefinancial policy research and the financial discipline itself. Our school also leads the financialhigher education in China.
In the past six decades, major theoretical innovations have emerged from here, representing the most important breakthroughs in the areas that featuring Chinese unique economic dynamics. Our school is widely recognized as the founder ofthe Chinese financial education. We have published the first text-book series on the Chinese financial systemcoveringtopics such asthe Theory of Finance, Public Finance, Taxation, and Insurance etc. Thereby we have trained outstanding talents in relevant fields, and our alumni are now very active in governments, financial academia, and industry. Many alumni hold important positions including the current deputy governor of the People’s Bank of China andthe former minister of the Ministry of Finance of China.
For the pastsix decades, the School of Finance hasfully committed to itsobligation of running a school for the objective of understanding the Chinese financial mechanism as well as foreign experience, both in theory and practice.We also constantly carry forward the fine Chinese traditional culture, promote international exchange and cooperation, and provide comprehensive academic support for the economic and social development of China.Because of its distinctive academic achievement, our school is also an importantpolicy consulting bodyfor the government.
A Leading School
The School of Finance has four departments: the department of money and finance, applied finance, public finance, and insurance. In every term, there are nearly 4,000 students registered for a wide range of studies.
Our academic faculty consists ofover 80 people, and most of them have long-termresearch or teaching experience in overseas.The faculty also constantly publishes academic papers in top international journals. Recently, we have publications in the American Economic Review,Journal of Political Economy, Review of Economic Studies, Management Science, and Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, among many others.
Because of the outstanding academic reputation, the School of Finance has beenstaying at No.1according to the national evaluation of research and teaching conducted by the Ministry of Education of China since 1988. The China Financial Policy Research Center (appointed by the Ministry of Education in 1999), which is affiliated to the school, has also ranked No.1 since 2004. Most recently, the School of Finance is also appointed by the Ministry of Education to consult higher education in the field of finance and set up overseeing entity to direct financial education nationwide.

The School of Finance is committed to provide top-quality facilities for teaching and research. We make constant investments into the following specific areas for students.
Seminar Rooms
We have recently refurnished the seminar room for the purpose of case study and presentation. The room locates inside the school building and has the capacity of holding up to 30 people. This is an innovative step for the interactive education to take its role as a dominating teaching method for postgraduate students. The room is newly designed with contemporary business-school style and equipped with high-tech teaching devices to facilitate interactive teaching.
Several common rooms are also available for students and staff to exchange ideaswhilehave afternoon tea. Everyone in our school may just walk in freely and has hand-made coffee, tea,or light snacks. This is a consistent effort that we have made to bridge the gap between our people.
Laboratory and Dataset Terminals
Our newly decorated laboratory can hold up to 20 people to do financial experiment. It has 20 terminals and 1 blade server. Among all the terminals, there are 12 Bloomberg terminals, which are integrated platforms that stream together24-hour financial news and information, including real-time and historical price data series, financials datasets, trading news, and analyst coverage. Most terminals in this lab also subscribe to major data vendors which track Chinese macroeconomic data (CEIC), financial markets (Wind, CSMAR, RESETS), and portfolio investment capital flows (EPFR), etc.
The lab also has the ability to hold mock financial practices on a variety of software environments. All terminals are pre-installed MATLAB, SAS, EVIEWS, and OXMETRICS for experiment and teaching purposes. Other softwaremay also be accessed uponstudents’ requests.
School Reception Offices
Our newly-decorated reception offices are open from 8am to 5pm on workdays. All of administrative staff are very experienced and always ready to help. We have recruited more people just recently, and they are all highly professional and bilingual. We have several designated professional teams respectively for undergraduate, postgraduate,part-time, EMBA, and EDP students for their particular needs. A standing team is also functioning on daily basis to provide psychological assistance to our students.
